Kuwait Sees Strong Surge in Gold Purchases During H1 2026

Kuwait City: Kuwait recorded a sharp increase in gold demand during the first half of 2026, with consumers purchasing a total of 8.2 tonnes of the precious metal between January and June, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).

The report attributes the growth to rising global economic uncertainty and increasing investor confidence in gold as a safe-haven asset. Demand strengthened across both the jewellery and investment segments during the six-month period.

Despite higher gold prices, jewellery purchases remained strong, supported by the wedding season and festive demand. The report also noted a rise in purchases of gold bars and coins, reflecting growing interest from investors seeking long-term financial security.

The World Gold Council said global concerns over inflation, economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions have continued to boost demand for gold, with Gulf markets, including Kuwait, benefiting from the trend.

Market analysts said that although gold prices remain at elevated levels, many consumers continue to view the precious metal as a reliable long-term investment. They expect demand to remain resilient in the coming months, depending on global economic conditions and market developments.
