Kuwait City: Skywatchers in Kuwait will have something special to look forward to later this month, with a partial lunar eclipse expected to be visible in the country during the early hours of August 28.
While the total solar eclipse on August 12 will attract astronomy enthusiasts across several parts of the world, Kuwait will not fall within its viewing path.
The path of the total solar eclipse will pass through areas including the Arctic region, Greenland, Iceland, the North Atlantic and Spain, meaning the phenomenon will not be visible from Kuwait.
Partial Lunar Eclipse on August 28
Kuwait residents will instead have an opportunity to observe a partial lunar eclipse on August 28.
According to astronomical experts, the eclipse is expected to begin at around 4:23am and remain observable until shortly before sunrise.
Weather permitting, residents should be able to watch the lunar eclipse without specialised viewing equipment.
Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse can be safely observed with the naked eye. Those seeking a clearer view can choose open areas with fewer buildings and less artificial lighting.

The lunar eclipse will not be the only astronomical attraction this month.
The Perseid meteor shower, one of the year’s well-known meteor showers, will also provide opportunities for skywatchers to spot meteors streaking across the night sky during August.
