Tornado in Southern France Injures 26, Damages Around 100 Homes

A tornado that struck the Aude department in southern France injured at least 26 people and damaged around 100 homes in Pomas, near Carcassonne, authorities said.

More than 115 firefighters were deployed following the storm, with rescue and assessment operations continuing in the affected area. According to the Aude prefecture, the injured people were in a condition classified as “relative urgency”, while five people were taken to hospitals for treatment.

The response also includes 14 urban search and rescue specialists and a canine unit, who are assisting emergency teams in Pomas as authorities assess the extent of the damage and continue relief operations.
