At Least 27 Killed, Hundreds Evacuated After Overnight Strikes Near Kyiv

At least 27 people were killed and 42 others injured in an overnight drone strike on Ukraine’s Kyiv region, according to regional authorities.

Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said four children were among those injured in the Russian attack on the Bucha district. A total of 381 people were evacuated as emergency crews continued search and rescue operations early Saturday.

Tkachenko later reported that a 14-year-old was killed in a separate attack in the Boryspil district, bringing the reported death toll in the region to at least 28.

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed condolences to the families of those killed and said more than 300 emergency responders had been deployed to the affected areas.

Zelensky also reported overnight attacks in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia. He called for continued international support and sanctions against Russia, saying Ukraine needs additional assistance to protect against such attacks.

The Ukrainian military said it had shot down 233 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight into Saturday.
