Kuwait’s General Traffic Directorate has issued guidelines for vehicle owners whose cars have been fitted with wheel clamps following traffic violations, warning drivers not to remove or tamper with the devices themselves.
Vehicle owners must first pay the fine associated with the traffic violation. Payment can be made through the Sahel app, the Ministry of Interior’s app or by visiting the Traffic Directorate in person.
After paying the fine, the payment receipt should be placed clearly on the vehicle’s windshield so it can be easily seen by traffic personnel.
Vehicle owners should then contact the Traffic Directorate through the designated WhatsApp number, 99324092, to arrange the necessary procedures for removing the wheel clamp.
Authorities also provided instructions for situations in which the clamped vehicle is damaged or involved in an accident. Drivers should immediately contact the emergency number 112 and wait for a traffic patrol team to arrive at the location.
Motorists have been advised not to attempt to move or handle the vehicle themselves in such circumstances.
The Traffic Directorate also warned that drivers who try to remove a wheel clamp themselves or deliberately damage the device could face legal action.
Authorities urged all motorists to follow traffic regulations and official instructions to improve road safety, prevent further incidents and ensure that wheel clamps are removed through the proper procedure.
