COVID RESTRICTIONS, SALES IN FRIDAY MARKET DECLINING

  • 19/07/2021

Kuwait City: Traders at Kuwait's Friday Market, the oldest market in the country, have complained that sales are declining due to covid restrictions. The traders said that due to the hot weather, consumers come to the market in the evening and in the current situation, they do not have time to buy enough. The owners of the stalls asked the government to extend the deadline from eight to nine in the evening.

Kuwait has been experiencing unbearable humidity in recent days. Sudden climate change is also driving consumers away from the market. The Friday market opens in compliance with strict health and safety standards. Stalls and all imported products are disinfected at regular intervals. Access to the market is controlled by police and security officials. Those with temperatures above 37.5 degrees and not wearing masks or gloves will not be allowed inside, the Friday Market Administration said.
