  • 25/08/2025

Saudi Arabia will launch a mandatory artificial intelligence (AI) curriculum for all 6 million students in public schools during the 2025–2026 academic year. This initiative, a first in the region, is designed to introduce AI concepts from an early age, fostering innovation and preparing students to address digital challenges with AI-driven solutions.

The curriculum was developed through a collaboration between the Ministry of Education, the National Center for Curriculum, the Ministry of Communications and IT, and the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). It aims to equip students with foundational and advanced AI knowledge, encouraging creativity and positioning them for future careers in technology and data science.

Beyond schools, SDAIA has also launched the SAMAI initiative, targeting 1 million citizens across all ages and professions for AI literacy training. Over 500,000 people have already registered, reflecting broad national interest in AI education and skills development.

This effort supports Saudi Arabia’s strategic vision to become a global leader in data and AI and transition to a technology-driven economy. By embedding AI in education, the Kingdom aims to cultivate homegrown talent, drive innovation, and ensure its youth are prepared to thrive in the evolving digital landscape.
