EMIRATES LAUNCHES NEW VERSION OF ID

Abu Dhabi: Emirates ID, the identity card of citizens and residents of the UAE, has been launched. The new card is being issued as part of a plan to upgrade identity cards and passports. This card is only available to those whose current card has expired and whose new card has been lost or damaged. ICA Acting Director General Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili said residents should continue to use the old ID card until it expires.


However, the ICA said there would be no increase in fees for the new Emirates ID card. The high quality card is made with modern features. It can be used for more than 10 years. The 3D image will appear on the card. Laser printing technology will be used to show the cardholder's date of birth. The chip on the card has a non-touch data reading feature. The card also includes the cardholder's professional information and population group.
