Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has established a new Advisory Committee for Higher Education and Future Skills aimed at strengthening the link between academic programs and real-world job market needs in the UAE.

Chaired by HE Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education, the committee seeks to enhance national development by ensuring that graduates are equipped with the skills necessary for a knowledge-based economy.

Dr. Al Awar emphasized that developing a successful higher education system requires strong collaboration with national companies, research institutes, and private sector stakeholders. He noted that the new committee represents a strategic step toward building a flexible and forward-thinking education system.

The committee includes top officials from UAE universities and leaders from key industries such as health, energy, technology, tourism, and investment. At its first meeting, members reviewed the state of higher education, discussed UAE universities’ global rankings, and introduced a pilot initiative to incorporate AI into university curricula.

Additional plans include improving coordination between secondary schools and universities, enhancing graduate employability, and encouraging academic-industry partnerships. The committee will also organize technical teams, conferences, and sector-wide development projects to keep education aligned with national goals.

This initiative forms part of MoHESR’s broader vision to boost the UAE’s global competitiveness in higher education and innovation while preparing its workforce for future-ready careers.
