The fishing industry has been affected by the lack of fresh work permits

KUWAIT CITY : According to the Reports, the head of the Kuwait Fishermen Union, Dhaher Al-Suwayan, the non-issuance of new work licences for fishermen is impeding the sector's efforts to provide food security for marine goods.


He noted in a press statement that more than 30% of Kuwait's fishing fleet has suspended operations as a result of the problem, as well as the inability to renew fishing licences, despite the fact that the fishing sector is one of the industries that is completely excluded from employment rates.

The fishing industry faces numerous and difficult challenges.
They must be resolved in order for fishermen to fulfil their national responsibility of ensuring the security of marine food supplies.
