KUWAIT'S POSTAL SYSTEM REMAINS FAILURE DUE TO LACK OF WHOLESALERS

Kuwait City: The postal issue is a source of concern for the Ministry of Communications, owing to the repeated failures of this critical sector and monitoring reports that warned of the poor quality of postal services. The ministry's failure to investigate tenders for the transportation and distribution of postal commodities has left the postal industry without distributors. The recipients of the first and third tenders have withdrawn, while the ministry has cancelled the second.

Since the end of November 2019, the postal sector has been without distributors. The ministry had issued three tenders to move postal item delivery to three regions: the first comprises Capital and Jahra governorates, the second Hawally and Farwaniya governorates, and the third Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Ahmadi governorates. In this regard, the supervisory authorities urged the ministry to consider the time required by the procedures for issuing and awarding new tenders before the expiry of the concluded contracts, and to expedite the sending of responses to the supervisory authorities' inquiries, as well as to investigate the accuracy of the tender terms in order to avoid cancellations.
