REDUCTION IN NUMBER OF WORKERS OVER THE AGE OF 60 IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: An estimated 13,500 expatriates over the age of 60 have left Kuwait, both from the government and the private sector. The figures are from January to September 2021. At the same time, the number of domestic workers in this age group has increased in Kuwait. The total number of expatriates over the age of 60 has dropped by 17 per cent in nine months. At the beginning of 2021, their number was 81,500. By the end of September, it had dropped to 67,980. There was a decrease of about 13,530 people.


The government sector alone saw a 17 per cent decline from this age group during the period. At the beginning of 2021, there were 6065 workers over the age of 60 in the government sector. By the end of September, it had dropped to 5040. The number of people aged between 60 and 64 increased from 4224 to 3643. 

There were 1841 people over the age of 65. It was reduced to 1397. The private sector had 75,450 workers over the age of 60 at the beginning of 2021. As of September 30, it had dropped to 62,940. At the same time, the number of domestic workers over the age of 60 has increased in the last three months of 2020. The peak was 2,608 domestic workers over the age of 60.
