'RAMADAN TENTS' ARE PROHIBITED IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: During the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs will monitor Iftar banquets in mosques and has established a number of regulations, the most important of which is prohibiting the setting up of Ramadan tents on mosque grounds and prohibiting the connection of electricity to such tents. Eng Badr Al-Otaibi, Assistant Undersecretary for Mosques Sector, issued Administrative Circular number 4/2022 to mosque directors about Iftar banquets, as follows:


1 – After consulting with the Imam, the party intending to organise Iftar banquets in the mosques shall send an official letter to the management of the governorate's mosques requesting clearance. 

2 – Iftar dinners should take place in the courtyards of mosques. Banquets are set up half an hour before the call to prayer and taken down as soon as the fast is broken.

3 – Those in charge of the Iftar project, under the direction of the Imam, are responsible for organising iftar dinners.

4 - Tents are not permitted on the premises of mosques during Ramadan.

5 – In order to safeguard the safety of worshipers, it is strictly forbidden to connect electricity to Ramadan tents.
