KUWAITI SALARIES HAVE RISEN BY KD 113 PER MONTH OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS

Kuwait City: Kuwaitis' average gross monthly pay in the public and private labour markets risen by KD 113 per month in the last five years, according to government statistics. The average monthly pay was KD 1,491 at the end of last year, compared to KD 1,378 five years before.


According to a comparison made by the daily based on recent labour market figures released by the Central Statistical Bureau, Kuwaitis' average monthly wage in the government sector climbed by KD 82 during a five-year period from the end of 2016 to the end of 2021. 

It was KD 1,457 per month in 2016, and increased to reach KD 1,539 per month in December 2021.

The figures show that the increase in the average monthly salary of Kuwaiti men in the government sector was more than double the increase in the average salaries of Kuwaiti women. The average increase in the salary of Kuwaiti men was KD 148, and that of Kuwaiti women was only KD 58.

The average monthly salary of Kuwaiti men in the government sector is KD 1,874 and of Kuwaiti women is KD 1,312, as of the end of 2021.

Statistics reveal that the average monthly salary of Kuwaiti employees in the private sector increased by about KD 188 during the aforementioned period from  KD 1,067 to KD 1,255 per month as of the end of 2021.

The share of Kuwaiti women in the increase in the private sector was good compared to the government sector. In five years, their salaries increased by an average of about KD 176, bringing their average salary to KD 974 per month. On the other hand, the salaries of Kuwaiti men in the private sector increased by KD 183 per month, bringing their average salary to KD 1,529 per month as of the end of 2021.
