37 EMPLOYEES HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE POSSESSION OF PASSPORTS

Kuwait City: According to statistics released by the Public Authority for Manpower's Department of Regulating the Recruitment of Domestic Workers, the department received 17 complaints from sponsors regarding domestic workers hired through the department in the previous month. According to the statistics, the administration got a total of 183 complaints from sponsors filed against offices or companies, while it received 181 labour complaints against business owners.


According to sources, the administration referred 63 labour complaints to the judiciary, including 8 complaints by employers about employees leaving work, 37 complaints about employees not having their travel documents (passports), and 290 complaints were resolved amicably between workers and sponsors. 

The statistic stated that the administration collected 1,780 dinars for the benefit of the PAM and 77,000 dinars from recruitment offices for the benefit of employers. The daily also indicated the total number of recruitment offices reached 420, of which 42 were issued during last March, while the licenses of 5 offices have been suspended.
