KUWAITIS RECEIVE 12 MILLION CEMENT BAGS AND 331 THOUSAND TONNES OF STEEL IN 2021

Kuwait City: According to informed sources from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the total number of bags of cement and subsidised steel provided by the ministry to citizens in 2021 was approximately 12.174 million bags of cement, with a total support value of KD 7.9 million for the Kuwait Supply Company and Kuwait Cement Company, and 331,900 tonnes of steel, with a total support value of KD 44.5 million.


During the previous year, they explained, roughly 7,227 citizens profited from the ministry's bags of cement donated to citizens to build or restore their homes, while 7,102 citizens benefited from subsidised steel. The months of August and September saw the highest demand for steel and cement. 

During the month of August, 814 citizens received 1.5 million bags of cement and 794 citizens received 39,000 tonnes of steel. Two million bags of cement were distributed to 900 persons in September, while 43,000 tonnes of steel were distributed to 881 people. The total number of cement bags distributed to residents in February was 284,000 bags for around 166 citizens, and the amount of subsidised steel was 6,400 tonnes for 147 citizens, indicating the lowest demand for cement and subsidised steel.
