KUWAIT MAINTAINS SECOND PLACE IN ARAB WORLD IN GLOBAL PEACE 2022 INDEX

Kuwait City: Kuwait maintained its Arab position in the "Global Peace Index for the year 2022", by coming in second among Arab countries and 39th globally, as it exchanged its position with Costa Rica, which occupied this position last year, while Kuwait was 38th globally, out of 163 countries included. The report is appended to Afghanistan.


According to the report issued by the Institute for Peace and Global Economy in Australia, Qatar ranked first in the Arab world, after it ranked 23 globally.

The results of the index revealed an improvement in overall results in 12 countries out of 20 countries in the Middle East and North Africa region, while 8 countries recorded a deterioration in the peace index.

Lebanon ranked 13th in the Arab world and 138th globally, while Yemen is at the bottom of the list of Arab countries, becoming the lowest in the peace index in the Middle East and penultimate in the world. Indicators in Libya, which rose 5 positions, ranked 151 globally and 14 in the Arab world.

The rest of the Arab countries were ranked according to the index, with Jordan ranked 3 in the Arab world, 57 globally, and the UAE ranked 4 in the Arab world, and 60 globally. Oman also ranked 5th in the Arab world and 64th globally.

Morocco ranked 6th in the Arab world, 74th globally, then Tunisia ranked 7th in the Arab world, 85th globally, Bahrain ranked 8th in the Arab world, 99th globally, Algeria ranked 9th in the Arab world, 109th globally, Saudi Arabia ranked 10th in the Arab world, 119 globally, and Egypt ranked 11 Arabs, 126 globally, and the Palestinian Territories ranked 12th among the Arabs, and 133 globally.

Iraq ranked 16th in the Arab world, 157th globally, and Syria ranked 17th in the Arab world, 161 globally, and Yemen ranked 18th in the Arab world, and 162 globally.

The “Global Peace Index” is an attempt to measure the relative peacefulness of countries and regions, and it is issued by the Institute for Economics and Peace, in consultation with an international team of peace experts, institutes and research centers in cooperation with the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney in Australia, and the countries are ranked in the index on a scale consisting of From 1 to 5, the most stable country gets a score of 1, and the least stable country gets a score of 5.
