Kuwait City: On Monday, the State of Kuwait began providing beef to the almost 12,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) living in the Hassan Sham camp in the Kurdistan area of northern Iraq. The calves were sacrificed as "adhahi" (sacrifices) during the Eid Adha holiday. The international Islamic charity organisation (IICO) of Kuwait provided funding for the relief effort, which was carried out by the Hebaa Foundation for Sustainable Development of Iraq as part of the "Kuwait stands with you" campaign.

The project comes at a time when residents of the camp are in dire need of aid due to lukewarm response to their needs from international aid agencies, Hebaa Director Mohammad Selim told. He expressed gratitude for Kuwaiti Amir, government and people, as well as everybody who contributed to the campaign. It is an annual tradition that Kuwait hands out dozens of tons of sacrifices’ meat to IDPs and needy people in Kurdistan region.

Additionally, on Monday, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) began supplying needy Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip with beef from cattle that had been sacrificed as "adhahi" (sacrifices) during the Eid Adha holiday. According to Amr Ali, a media and public relations officer for the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), 1,300 needy families in five governorates across the Gaza Strip would benefit from the relief campaign, which was organised in collaboration with them.  "As part of the initiative, 11 head of cattle were slaughtered in Rafah City, southwest of the Gaza Strip, and their meat has been distributed to disadvantaged households. He extended gratitude to the campaign's donors as well as the Kuwaiti Amir, government, and people.
