Kuwait City: The spending of citizens and residents increased by about 30% during the first half of this year (the period from January to the end of June), as their spending increased by 4.66 billion dinars to reach 20.44 billion dinars at the end of June 2022, compared to 15.78 billion dinars at the end of June 2021.


Based on official figures issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait showed that the increase in spending was mainly driven by the increase in spending through points of sale (direct purchase with bank cards) by 1.8 billion dinars, not to mention the increasing increase in online purchases. With 2.4 billion dinars.

This comes as the figures showed that 95% of spending by citizens and residents during the first six months of the year was inside Kuwait at 19.48 billion dinars, while spending outside Kuwait was less than 5% of the total spending of citizens and residents.

The figures showed that spending inside Kuwait rose by about 28%, with a value of 4.28 billion dinars, to reach at the end of June 2022 about 19.48 billion dinars, compared with 15.2 billion dinars at the end of June 2021, while spending outside Kuwait increased by 65% ​​during the same period, as it approached one billion dinars at the end of The first half, which amounted to 957.6 million dinars, compared to 580.7 million dinars at the end of June 2021, as this was driven by the lifting of Corona restrictions and the facilitation of travel movement, which is witnessing a record season during the current year.
