Kuwait City: The government has taken a tough step to raise the threshold for prosecuting any commercial activities surrounding suspected money laundering in the country. The Council of Ministers has appointed regulatory authorities to study the phenomenon of overcrowding in pharmacies. The decision to tighten surveillance is due to the overcrowding of certain brands in pharmacies in Kuwait. The names of the owners on their commercial licenses are different.

The Cabinet has requested the Commerce and Health Ministries to disclose the names of the owners of 14 pharmacy firms operating in the country and the size of their capital. It investigated the extent to which pharmacies are allowed to market drugs and medical products through websites and social media. Copies of inspection procedures conducted at the pharmacies and relevant regulatory reports on price or monopoly violations have also been requested.
