POPULATION OF KUWAIT IS OVER 4.6 MILLION, PACI AND CSB FIGURES IMPEDE POLICYMAKING

Kuwait City: Public agencies run by the government include the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) and Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI). These two organisations' main goal is to produce reliable statistical information that can be utilised to develop public policy, the most fundamental of which is the population census. The inescapable premise is that the information from both institutions must be the same.

Prior to disparities in their data being revealed or the reasons behind them being explained, they must work together to unify their data. The first week of August 2022 saw the release of the CSB's population data as of the end of December 2021. According to the report, Kuwait had a total population of 4,216,900, a decrease of 119,112 people from the 4,336,012 in 2020. This is explained by a 148,000-person drop in the number of expatriates and a 29,000-person rise in Kuwaiti population.
