KUWAIT WILL HOLD ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS ON SEPTEMBER 29

Kuwait City: The National Assembly elections will take place on September 29, 2022, according to the Cabinet, which met on Monday. As a result, the Ministry of Interior declared that everyone born in Kuwait is automatically registered to vote when they turn 21. On election day, voters must show their national identification documents and civil identification cards. The general department of passports and citizenship affairs is where those who misplaced their nationality certificates can get temporary ones, the ministry added. According to Colonel Dr. Ahmad Al-Hajri, the head of the Elections Affairs Committee, all eligible voters can confirm that they are registered to vote at the local police stations that correspond to their residential address on their civil identification cards. 


According to the official, voters have the right to challenge their inclusion on the voting list for specific constituencies, and they can also change their constituencies by submitting a request to the department of elections affairs. Al-Hajri added that those who were left off the voter list had the legal right to challenge the process. The official explained that in order to cast their ballots on election day, voters must have their citizenship and civil ID cards with them. Also, several former MPs have unveiled their plan to stand for the upcoming elections such as Khalil Al-Saleh for the Second Constituency, Abdulkareem Al-Kandari and Mehalhal Al-Mudaf for the Third Constituency, Obaid Al-Wasmi and Ahmed Mutei Al-Azmi for the Fourth Constituency, and Al-SaifiMubarak Al- Saififor the Fifth Constituency.
