ACCORDING TO RESEARCH, 20% OF CHILDREN IN KUWAIT ARE AT RISK OF DEVELOPING DIABETES

Kuwait City: 20 percent of children in the country are at risk of developing diabetes, according to the research. When researchers come to the conclusions of a study started 10 years ago in Kuwait, they learn more about the likelihood of diabetes in children. The Dasman Diabetes Institute and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences have supported and funded the largest study ever conducted in the region.


The research was conducted by Hind Al-Qadri, MD, PhD, professor at Harvard University and researcher at the Dasman Diabetes Institute. For the study of risk factors for diabetes and obesity, information from more than 8,000 Kuwaiti kids was gathered. Children in Kuwait are obese, according to Al Qadri.
