SALARY CAP FOR FAMILY/DEPENDENT VISAS WILL INCREASE TO KD 800

Kuwait City: The salary cap for family/dependent visas (Article 22) will be increased to KD 800 by the Interior Ministry. The current salary cap is KD 500. All foreign nationals who possess visas in accordance with Articles 17 and 18 will be impacted by this decision (Private and Government).


Expats who earn more than KD 800 per month must provide an original work permit or other form of identification in order to apply for a dependent or family visa. Additional documentation or proof of earned income won't be accepted. 

The new MOI rule aims to control Kuwait's population structure by only allowing those family members who earn a high income and can support their family comfortably. As a result, their wives won't be dependent on them to look for work in the local market because it is overcrowded. This ruling will apply to everyone who recently entered Kuwait under Article 22 for wives and children under the age of 16.
