EXPATRIATES IN KUWAIT ARE IN CRISIS; NEWBORNS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR SPONSORSHIP

Kuwait City: Dozens of expatriates are directly affected by the crisis after not being able to enroll newborns in sponsorship. The parents are asking for humane consideration in this matter. About 400 applicants are facing crisis. The main problem is that most of them are teachers. These problems started when family visas and visit visas were suspended until further notice 


The expatriates asked the Ministry of Home Affairs to express their concern regarding the issue of their newborn babies born abroad and to resolve it as a humanitarian issue. The babies were born in the country during the summer holidays. Under the new procedures coming into effect in Kuwait, these infants cannot enter the country with their parents. The expatriates said that they are now in a situation where they have to leave their jobs and live outside Kuwait with their newborn. 

There are approximately 400 transactions submitted by residents to the authority in the Al Dajij area. It is reviewed almost every day. However, the expatriates said they are still waiting for a compassionate decision on the matter. The expatriates added that they hope that the Home Minister and the concerned authorities will find an immediate solution to this problem.
