KUWAIT PETROLEUM CORPORATION'S CEO DESIRES TO KNOW WHY WORKER'S UNION WON THE CASE

  • 21/10/2022

Kuwait City: Sheikh Nawaf Al-Saud, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), recently issued a directive ordering the creation of a fact-finding committee to investigate the court decision favouring the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Workers Union in order to ascertain the reasons why the company lost the case and evaluate the steps it took within the confines of corrective instructions to follow up the suspended oil procedures and files. According to reliable sources, the KOC Board of Directors approved the implementation of the court decision favouring the company's employees, including their entitlement to housing allowance retroactively for those who did not apply for it and the ensuing difference estimated to be more than KD 87 million.

According to sources, the board requested that KPC submit a budget so that the allowance could be paid retroactively beginning five years ago. However, sources in the labour sector have confirmed that the union is committed to following up on the matter until the allowance is paid out and that it will keep fighting for the rights and entitlements of workers. According to sources, the executive leadership's awareness of the legal ramifications sped up the processes for carrying out the court order.
