Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has conducted a sweeping nationwide security campaign, resulting in the arrest of 258 expatriates for violations including expired residencies, absconding from work, and overstayed visas. The operation, led by the General Department of Residency Affairs Investigations, underscores Kuwait’s zero-tolerance approach to breaches of its Residency and Labor Laws.
The crackdown was executed under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, with Brigadier General Fawaz Al-Roumi, Head of the Nationality and Residency Sector, overseeing field operations. Authorities confirmed that those detained included individuals wanted for legal cases alongside routine residency violators, reflecting a broader effort to maintain public order and labor market integrity.
In a stern warning, the ministry reiterated that both workers and employers found violating regulations will face full legal accountability without exceptions. The campaign aligns with Kuwait’s ongoing strategy to curb illegal employment, monitor labor compliance, and eliminate practices that threaten national security.
This large-scale operation highlights Kuwait’s commitment to strict immigration enforcement and labor market regulation. By intensifying inspections and penalties, authorities aim to deter future violations while ensuring a fair and lawful work environment for all residents. The ministry also urged employers and expatriates to regularize their statuses promptly to avoid legal consequences.
