IN JUST ONE WEEK, 3,000 FOREIGNER'S DRIVING PERMITS REVOKED

Kuwait City: According to the General Directorate of Traffic, about 3,000 expat driver's licences were cancelled in the first week due to violations of the terms of their issuance. The First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al Khaled gave the order to reopen the expat driver's licence files, which is how this decision was made.

Driving licences for 3,000 expats had been blocked and were scheduled for withdrawal. The licences that have been revoked are the result of work permit changes or people moving to different occupations; as a result, they no longer meet one of the requirements, either related to work profession or salary.

It will take at least two months to review every licence; if the requirements are not met, the licences will be blocked and the owner will be called in for an appearance. The Kuwait Mobile ID and Sahel application will block the licence if the owner doesn't turn it over. If it is discovered that he is continuing to operate the vehicle even though his driving privileges have been suspended, he will be dealt with legally and expelled from Kuwait for breaking the law.
