Kuwait City: According to a report by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, 20% of Kuwaitis reside in apartments within private housing, indicating that the main issue with the housing issue, which is a challenging file that successive governments have inherited, "does not only lie in the long wait for housing care and the inability to bear the cost of land in the private market, but also due to mismatch between supply and demand, because the available housing that the resident can choose from is not enough to meet demand."

The goal of the KFAS report is to change the local housing dialogue from one that is limited to allocating state lands for housing purposes to one that includes a more thorough discussion of the effects of the current housing model on the economy, the environment, and human life. The report by KFAS summarises the challenges facing Kuwaiti society and the government in the housing sector.
