Kuwait City: A group of Chinese physicians and nurses who specialise in providing traditional Chinese medicine services were honoured by the Natural Medicine and Health Rehabilitation Hospital of the Ministry of Health. The MOH paid tribute to the departing Chinese medical team, which was made up of approximately 17 doctors and nurses of both sexes out of the 222 who were sent to Kuwait in 22 batches by the Chinese government. On the occasion of their departure from the country and in recognition of their contribution, efforts, and ongoing cooperation in the interest of patients, the Chinese Embassy hosted a farewell ceremony for them.

The Chinese ambassador to Kuwait, Zhang Jianwei, said that Kuwait is the first among the Gulf countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, as well as the only Gulf country where a Chinese medical team is stationed. He added, that in early 1976, the Chinese government sent the first batch of the Chinese medical team to Kuwait. He added that during 4 decades, China has sent a total of 222 medical workers who have diagnosed and treated nearly 800,000 patients in Kuwait.

He pointed to the coordinated efforts between the two countries in facing the challenges posed by the (Covid 19) pandemic, as Kuwait provided medical aid to China while China sent a group of medical experts to help Kuwait during the outbreak of the pandemic, as just one example of our health cooperation and strategic partnership.

In response, Dr. Salah Al-Shayji, Director of the Physical Medicine and Health Rehabilitation Hospital, praised the role of the medical staff in providing support and assistance in the hospital, demonstrating their dedication to the hospital's rules and regulations and respect for our culture and the rules established by the Ministry of Health.
