MULTIPLE INSTSNCES OF CORONAVIRUS XBB VARIANT FOUND IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The new coronavirus XBB strain has been detected in Kuwait, according to a report released on Tuesday by the Ministry of Health. According to a statement released by the ministry, the team in charge of monitoring coronavirus developments "registered a number of cases infected with the new COVID-19 variant which had been detected earlier in several countries including some in the region." It confirmed that it is typical for viruses to develop genetic mutations over time. 


The ministry emphasised that although the coronavirus has undergone a number of genetic changes and mutations since its discovery, this is not cause for alarm. The epidemiological criteria and indicators, it was noted, "indicate the stability of the situation in Kuwait at the present time." "Public health measures and guidelines for the prevention of the coronavirus remain the same," the ministry noted. It urged people to fully immunise themselves against the virus.
