KUWAIT AND GULF ARE EXPERIENCING AN INCREASE IN E-FRAUD

Kuwait City: Due to the technical difficulties in proving the crime, there is an increase in the amount of electronic fraud in Kuwait and the Gulf countries as a whole. This problem is made worse by mistakes made by targeted users through chat programmes, social networking sites, messages, and even electronic games and fake pages. Numerous people who rely on online shopping and direct purchases through clever applications or websites are the target of the most recent sophisticated fraud technique, which involves changing company or store logos to lure customers into the purchase, payment, and money transfer window without the actual presence of the products or the delivery component.

At least 350 cases of electronic fraud have been reported to the Public Prosecution by people who were duped by calls made using Kuwaiti phone numbers via the messaging services "WhatsApp" or "IMO," by sending links via text messages, or by using government agency logos or names. Kuwait ranks fourth on the list of fraud cases reported in the Middle East and North Africa, according to Dr. Safa'a Zaman, the head of the Kuwait Society for Information Security, and its citizens are among the most likely targets of electronic fraud.
