PROPOSAL TO INCREASE ELECTRICITY AND WATER RATES FOR EXPATRIATES IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City:  A technical team has recommended to the government to increase electricity and water rates with the start of the new financial year in April next year, a local newspaper reports.


The recommendation aims to increase tariffs by 50-100 percent, while the tariff for citizens remains unchanged, "since expatriates, who are twice the population of Kuwaiti citizens, are considered the largest consumers, so they do not have to pay 10 times less to utilities."
