Amer Hayat, the Head of the Communications Sector at the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority, informed Al-Anbaa newspaper that Kuwait is presently linked to the Internet via five international cables. These cables serve as a network of technical transmission channels for Internet and data transfer, both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, there are ongoing efforts to expand the number of cables to eight by introducing three new cables to Kuwait.
Sadiq highlighted that, as per the most recent reports from the Communications and Information Technology Commission, the combined capacity of the five existing cables stands at approximately 8,580 gigabits per second. The capacity of the three new land cables is around 3,830 gigabits per second, which includes the total capacity of the Saudi Mobily Etihad cable at about 400 gigabits.
