Syrian man apprehended for acquiring Kuwaiti citizenship by fraud

The Department of Combating Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes (Criminal Investigations) recently captured a Syrian man born in 1972. He has been given a 12-year prison sentence for illegally obtaining Kuwaiti citizenship. The crime occurred when his father falsely registered him as a Kuwaiti citizen at the age of five in exchange for money. He later joined the Kuwaiti army, married a Saudi woman, and had two children with her, who now live in Saudi Arabia. After serving 25 years in the military, he retired. The man has been moved to prison to begin serving his sentence. It is important to mention that the Kuwaiti citizen under whose name he was registered has already passed away.
