First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef confirmed that correctional institutions in the State of Kuwait have witnessed a qualitative shift in terms of health and social facilities and services, and that Kuwaiti prisons are considered a model in adherence to humanitarian standards and international treaties.
During an inspection tour of the Central Prison, during which he was accompanied by the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Duaij, and representatives of Kuwait University, the Ministries of Education and Endowments, the National Bureau for Human Rights, and the Union of Charitable Societies, Al-Yousef appreciated the results of the “Sandhom” initiative with its rehabilitation and construction projects that were launched with the participation of the Ministry of Interior, the National Office for Human Rights, and the Human Construction Association for Social Development.
