Kuwait to Introduce Long-Term Chip ID for Eligible Foreigners

Kuwait will issue a new chip-embedded civil identification card for qualified foreign investors and real estate owners. The card, valid for 10 to 15 years depending on investment value, stores the holder’s official data digitally to enhance security and accuracy. Applications and renewals can be processed through the existing channels of the Public Authority for Civil Information or the Sahel app.

The encrypted chip contains personal information and residency documents, aiming to reduce fraud. Officials state the technology will speed up verification at government offices and airports, simplifying procedures and lessening the need for frequent travel to Kuwait or paperwork for cardholders.
