Kuwaiti Tanker Damaged in Drone Strike Near Dubai

Dubai/Kuwait City: Authorities have successfully extinguished a fire on the Kuwaiti crude oil tanker “Al Salmi” after it was targeted in a drone attack while anchored in Dubai waters.

According to a statement from the Dubai Government Media Office, the incident was handled in line with established emergency procedures, with marine firefighting teams bringing the blaze under control.

All 24 crew members on board were confirmed safe, with no injuries reported.

Earlier, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) had stated that the attack occurred around 12:10 am on Monday while the tanker was anchored at a port area in Dubai.

The vessel was fully loaded with crude oil at the time of the incident. The attack caused damage to the ship’s hull and triggered a fire onboard, raising concerns about a potential oil spill in nearby waters.

Authorities said assessments of the damage are ongoing, along with measures to ensure environmental safety and prevent any impact on surrounding marine areas.
