Authorities in Saudi Arabia have issued a warning of continued thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across the Kingdom until Friday. The alert was announced by the Saudi Civil Defense based on forecasts from the National Center for Meteorology.
Moderate to heavy rain is expected in several regions, including Mecca, Riyadh, Medina, Qassim, Hail, Tabuk, the Eastern Province, Northern Borders, Al Jawf, Al Baha, Asir, Jizan, and Najran. Authorities warned of possible flash floods, hailstorms, and dust that could significantly reduce visibility.
Due to the severe weather, institutions such as Hafr Al-Batin University and educational centres in Khafji and Al-Nairyya have temporarily shifted to online learning.
Officials urged residents to stay indoors, avoid flood-prone areas, and refrain from entering or swimming in water bodies during the adverse conditions. The public has also been advised to follow official channels and media updates for the latest weather information.
Recent days have already seen unstable weather patterns, with earlier red alerts issued in Medina for heavy rain, strong winds, and hail. Authorities continue to stress caution as conditions remain unpredictable.
