Qatar warns residents as cyber threats rise, urges strict digital safety measures

Authorities in Qatar have issued a public alert over a rise in cyber threats, urging residents to remain vigilant online. The warning was released by the Ministry of Interior, which emphasised the importance of following basic cybersecurity practices.

Officials advised users to verify the source of any messages or links before opening them, especially if they come from unknown or suspicious contacts. They warned that cybercriminals are increasingly using fake links and deceptive messages to steal personal information.

Residents have been strongly cautioned against responding to or interacting with such content. Authorities stressed that avoiding unknown links is one of the most effective ways to prevent cyber fraud.

The ministry highlighted that individual awareness and responsible online behaviour are key to protecting against cybercrime, describing them as the first line of defence in digital security.
