Qatar Expands School Fee Exemptions for Non-Qatari Students

Doha: Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater has approved amendments to Qatar’s school fee regulations, expanding exemptions for certain non-Qatari students studying in government schools.

The new decision amends regulations introduced under Decision No. 20 of 2023, which governs textbook and school transportation fees for non-Qatari students who are not citizens of GCC countries.

Under the revised policy, two additional categories will now be exempt from textbook and school bus charges. These include holders of Qatari travel documents and holders of permanent residency cards.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said the move reflects efforts to address social needs and ensure that eligible students receive full access to educational services without additional financial burdens.

Officials stated that the amendment supports Qatar’s commitment to building a more inclusive and supportive educational environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

The new exemption policy takes effect immediately and is expected to benefit a wider segment of students enrolled in government schools across the country.
