Bahrain revokes citizenship of 69 over security concerns amid regional tensions

Authorities in Bahrain have revoked the citizenship of 69 individuals as part of heightened security measures during the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Officials said those affected were accused of maintaining links with foreign entities and spreading content supportive of Iran, particularly through social media. The decision follows investigations into activities that authorities claim disrupted public order and threatened national stability.

Several individuals have also been arrested for allegedly sharing material that incited unrest or communicated with external actors during the recent period of regional tensions involving missile and drone attacks.

Authorities stressed that such actions are being treated seriously, especially given the broader security situation in the Gulf. Enhanced monitoring and stricter enforcement measures have been introduced to counter potential threats.

Officials also warned residents against spreading misinformation or content that could destabilise the country, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining national security.
