Dubai Warns of Dh500 Fine for Abandoned Vehicles This Summer

Dubai: Dubai Municipality has warned residents not to leave vehicles unattended in public places during the summer holiday season, reminding motorists that abandoned or neglected vehicles can attract a Dh500 fine and spoil the city’s appearance.

The municipality urged residents travelling abroad or leaving the emirate for extended periods to take preventive measures to protect their vehicles and avoid violations.

Authorities recommended five key steps:

Park only in designated and secure locations.
Avoid leaving vehicles in deserted or sandy areas.
Carry out regular vehicle maintenance.
Arrange for periodic cleaning.
Use protective car covers where appropriate.

Dubai Municipality said vehicles left without maintenance or supervision for long periods can negatively affect the emirate’s clean and organised urban environment.

Inspection teams operate throughout the year to identify abandoned vehicles on roads, public parking areas and open sandy spaces. Before a vehicle is removed, inspectors place a warning notice giving owners between three and 15 days to move it, depending on its condition and location.

Owners of vehicles registered in Dubai also receive an SMS notification through the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) database before further action is taken.

Officials stressed that maintaining Dubai’s appearance is a shared responsibility and urged residents to comply with municipal regulations during the holiday season.
