Iran Attack Damages Kuwait Power and Water Plant, Ministry Urges Energy Conservation

Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has announced that a major power generation and water desalination plant sustained damage after an Iranian attack on Saturday, triggering a fire at part of the facility.

According to the ministry, several electricity generation units were temporarily shut down as a precautionary measure to protect the facility, ensure the safety of employees and maintain the stability of the national power grid.

Emergency response teams from the ministry, along with the General Fire Force, are working to contain the fire, assess the damage and restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Authorities also confirmed that emergency contingency plans have been activated to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supplies across the country.

The ministry appealed to both citizens and residents to cooperate by reducing electricity consumption during peak hours, particularly between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, to ease pressure on the national grid while repair work continues.

Officials stressed that updates will be issued only through official communication channels and urged the public not to believe or circulate rumours or unverified information. Residents were advised to rely solely on official sources for accurate updates regarding the situation.
