Abu Dhabi: Parts of the UAE are expected to receive afternoon rainfall early next week as unstable weather conditions return to the country’s eastern and southern regions, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM said convective clouds are likely to develop over the east and south on Monday and Tuesday, bringing a chance of showers during the afternoon. The unstable conditions are being caused by a surface low-pressure system extending from the east, along with an upper-level trough affecting the country.
On Saturday, the weather will be fair to partly cloudy, with cloud formation expected over eastern and southern areas later in the day. Winds will shift from south-easterly to north-westerly, remaining light to moderate but becoming fresh at times, with speeds of 10 to 20km/h, reaching up to 30km/h. Seas will remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Similar weather is forecast for Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and increased cloud cover over the eastern mountains during the afternoon. Winds are expected to strengthen at times, reaching up to 35km/h, while sea conditions will continue to be slight.
The NCM expects Monday and Tuesday to remain partly cloudy, with convective cloud formation likely over eastern and southern areas. Afternoon rainfall is possible on both days, while south-easterly to north-easterly winds may strengthen to 40km/h, causing dust and blowing sand in exposed areas.
Despite the chance of rain in some regions, sea conditions are expected to remain slight throughout the forecast period in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
