Dubai: A new fully electric bus network, JLT Link, has begun operations at Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), offering residents, employees and visitors a more convenient way to travel within the community and connect to nearby Dubai Metro stations.
The eco-friendly service replaces the existing bus system and operates across two main routes covering JLT clusters A to Z. It provides connections to DMCC Metro Station and Sobha Realty Metro Station, reducing the need for long walks, particularly during Dubai’s hot summer months.
A single journey costs Dh3, with passengers able to manage their trips digitally through the JLT Link mobile app. The app allows users to check routes and live timings, add funds to their accounts and pay fares using a QR code.
Passengers do not need to book their journey in advance. They can simply go to the nearest stop, scan the QR code and board the next available bus.
The network consists of 13 stops across two loops. The first connects JLT West with DMCC Metro Station, serving clusters A to N, with buses operating every 30 minutes.
The second loop connects JLT East and the Park Precincts with Sobha Realty Metro Station, covering clusters O to Z. Buses on this route will operate every 20 minutes.
The service runs from 6.30am to 9.30pm from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, buses operate from 9.30am until 12.30am.
In the first phase, four electric buses, each with 23 seats, have been deployed. The vehicles feature low-entry access, making boarding easier for People of Determination and wheelchair users.
The new service is expected to improve first- and last-mile connectivity in JLT while encouraging residents and workers to choose more sustainable transport options for short journeys.
