Kuwait City: Kuwait authorities have intensified food safety inspections after 195 kilograms of adulterated and non-compliant meat was seized and destroyed during an inspection campaign in Farwaniya Governorate.
The drive was carried out by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) as part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and ensure that food establishments comply with the country’s safety and hygiene requirements.
Led by the Farwaniya inspection department, officials visited several food establishments and identified multiple violations related to the storage and distribution of food products.
Authorities said legal cases were registered against establishments found violating health regulations, while notices were also issued for other food safety breaches identified during the inspections.
The 195kg of meat, which authorities determined did not meet required health and safety standards, was confiscated and completely destroyed in accordance with approved procedures to prevent it from reaching consumers.
PAFN said inspection campaigns will be strengthened across Kuwait to detect unsafe food practices and prevent potentially harmful products from entering the market.
Food establishments have been urged to strictly comply with hygiene, storage and food safety regulations. Authorities warned that firm legal action will continue against businesses found putting consumers’ health at risk.
