Kuwait Orders 509 Families in East Taima to Vacate Homes by September 1

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has instructed 509 beneficiaries living in government housing in East Taima to vacate their homes by September 1. Official notices were sent to the affected beneficiaries through the government’s Sahel application, informing them that their rental contracts had been terminated.

The action comes as part of the implementation of Decree-Law No. 83 of 2025, following the repeal of Article 29-bis of the Housing Welfare Law, commonly referred to as the provision concerning those who had sold their homes. The amendment came into force after being published in Kuwait’s official gazette in July 2025.

As part of the implementation process, authorities are terminating contracts and gradually reclaiming government housing units from beneficiaries who no longer meet the applicable eligibility requirements. The 509 affected families in East Taima have been instructed to complete the necessary procedures and vacate their properties within the specified deadline.
