Beijing: China has stepped up emergency measures as Typhoon Dolphin approaches, with authorities warning of torrential rain and a heightened risk of geological disasters in parts of Anhui province. The Ministry of Emergency Management activated a Level-IV emergency response for geological disasters in the province.
Parts of Anhui are expected to experience heavy rainfall over the next three days, with western areas facing a particularly high risk of landslides and other geological disasters. Authorities have urged local officials to strengthen monitoring and take preventive measures in vulnerable areas.
China’s meteorological authority also upgraded its emergency response for Typhoon Dolphin to Level III and raised the typhoon warning from yellow to orange. China uses a four-tier colour-coded typhoon warning system, with red being the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
