Kuwait Introduces Traffic Light Pre-Alert System for Safer Roads

Kuwait has introduced a new traffic light pre-alert system designed to warn drivers and pedestrians shortly before traffic signals change. The system aims to give road users more time to react safely, helping drivers adjust their speed or stop when necessary.

The pre-alert system provides two types of warnings. A red-light alert informs drivers in advance that the signal is about to change, allowing them to assess the road situation and take appropriate action. A green-light alert warns drivers to reduce their speed and prepare to stop smoothly and safely as the signal change approaches.

Authorities said the system is expected to improve road safety by giving drivers and pedestrians additional time to respond to changing signals. It could also help reduce sudden braking, confusion and the risk of accidents near traffic lights while encouraging safer compliance with traffic rules.
